The feed and nutrition course has been established to give the trainee a better understanding of the basic nutritional requirement of cattle. The cost of feeding cattle can be overwhelming
at the best of times. A basic understanding of ration formulation collaborated with basic nutritional requirements assists the farmer with production and reproduction. It is a well known fact that 50% of all infertility is directly related to not meeting the nutritional requirements of breeding cattle.
The aim of the courses is to assist the farmer with his or her problems. Over and above the Feeding of breeding cattle, preparing cattle for market, also feeding cattle during their different stages of development. It is also important to consider the feed that is available and how best to collate this with the nutritional requirements of cattle. Therefore balancing rations will be covered within the course and nutritional tables supplied, underlining the nutritional content of various feeds, grasses, grains etc.
